Guidelines & FAQ

How do I log in to the service?

You can log in using SSO or a personal user ID (e-mail address) and password. IP login is no longer supported.

User IDs created prior to 1 December 2025 cannot be used in SFS Store. You can create a new user ID with a valid e-mail address or use SSO. SSO is available with Microsoft 365 e-mail accounts.

If you should have access to a subscription, please check with your administrator that you have been granted access in the new service.

If you need help, please contact SFS customer service.

How does SSO work in practice?

SSO (Single Sign-On) is a feature that allows users to access multiple applications with a single login. The SFS Store service supports Microsoft SSO implemented with Microsoft Entra ID (previously Azure Active Directory), which is the application responsible for user identification and access management.

When using SSO, a user ID is created based on your organizational e-mail address, and the password is the same as the Microsoft password associated with the user ID. SFS has no access to your password.

There is no need for any separate installations in the customer organization's Entra ID. As a default, the SSO used by the service does not require separate admin consent, but depending on your organization’s settings, admin consent may be required. If you encounter any issues with logging in, please contact SFS Customer Service.

Why was the new service implemented?

The previous SFS Webstore and SFS Online services have reached the end of their technical life and can no longer be updated to improve their functionality. The new service provides an improved look and feel, and can be maintained in a way that ensures ease of use and data security.

What has changed with the new service?

the new service, the functionalities of SFS Webstore and SFS Online are merged into a single platform.

The greatest change concerns subscriptions, as users can read standards directly in their browser and create lists of their favourite publications.

Each product card displays all valid versions of the same standard, making it simpler to choose the desired edition and language version. All amendments and corrections as well as any additional products are listed under their own sections within the main standard product card.

What is HTML-view?

In the HTML view, the selected standard is displayed in a browser in the form of a web page. The HTML view allows users to create direct links to standard contents (sub-headers, figures and tables). For bilingual standards, the different language versions are displayed consecutively in the HTML view. Use the table of contents to quickly navigate within the document.

Standards not available in the HTML view will be displayed as PDF files that open in a browser window by default and can also be opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

What does "following a standard" mean?

When you are following a standard that you have purchased or that belongs to your subscription, you will receive e-mail notifications of any changes to the standard’s status.

How do favourites work?

Once you are logged in, you can add a standard you have purchased or that is included in your subscription to your favourites e.g. from the product card. Adding standards to favourites differs from following them in that there will be no notifications of changes to standards added to the My Favourite Standards list.

What is a standard subscription service ?

The standard subscription service is based on an annual fee, and it allows users to view standards in a browser by logging in to the service. The annual fee is determined based on the contents of the subscription agreement, the selected service level and the number of user.

Why does my subscription have fewer standards than before?

In the new service, all amendments, corrections and language versions of a standard are collected under a single product card. Based on search results, it will appear as though there are fewer publications than before, but all the same versions of each standard are still available. Users can toggle between different language versions in the reader view, and all amendments and corrections are available both in the reader view and the product card.

How to purchase

To purchase standards, you must first register in SFS Store. You can register either using SSO or with a personal e-mail address and password. Product details and previews are available without logging in.

1. Search for the product you wish to purchase. The fastest way to search for a standard is using the standard reference number, but different search terms can also be used and search results filtered based on product group or publisher (standardization organisation such as SFS or ISO).
2. Select the desired language version and delivery method in the product card. NOTE: Not all delivery methods are available for all products.
3. Proceed to checkout.
4. Once the payment is complete, the purchased products can be downloaded in My products. Delivery times for other products vary. Please contact SFS Customer Service to confirm the delivery time.

Free-of-charge standards

To access a publication free of charge, log in to SFS Store. If you do not yet have a user account, please register as a new user. Add the publication to your shopping cart and complete the checkout process. After this, you can read the publication in the My Products view. If the product is linked to your subscription, selecting "Open" will open the product for reading.

Why is the price listed as 0 €?

In most cases, a zero‑priced standard is a correction (corrigendum), which you can recognize based on its identifier ending in /AC or /Cor.
Sponsored access standards are publications whose access rights are funded by a third party. For this reason, they can be read for free in SFS Store after signing in.

How do I find the standard I need?

Start by searching for the standard reference number, omitting any letter identifiers. Standardization organisations have different ways of forming the standard reference, and elements such as punctuation marks and the year of publication can influence search results.

English search terms are likely to yield more and better results than Finnish search terms, since all standards are not available in Finnish.

As a default, withdrawn publications are omitted in the search function. To include withdrawn publications, select the option Include withdrawn.

Subscription holders may search for standards either within their subscriptions or extend the search to cover other publications as well.

If you cannot find the standard you are looking for, our customer service is happy to help you.

Delivery and payment methods

The fastest way to get the standards you need is to select download as the delivery method. This way, the purchased standards will become available for download in My products immediately once payment is complete.
NOTE: Publications are watermarked with the name of the purchasing organisation.

Not all delivery methods are available for all products.

Please contact our customer service if the available options are not feasible.

A delivery fee of EUR 45.00 + VAT is charged for products sent by SFS Customer Service.

Payment methods

Finnish debit and credit cards as well as bank transfers are accepted in SFS Store. Invoicing is available for companies. If you wish to be invoiced, please contact our customer service.

VAT

VAT will be charged at the prevailing rate.

Can I make changes to or cancel an order?

Before you place an order, review the reference information of the publication carefully. SFS does not refund erroneously placed orders where the product reference information is correct, and the customer has received the product specified in the order. Orders delivered via mail may be amended by contacting SFS Customer Service within the same day the order has been placed.

Once a local copy of a standard has been downloaded, the order cannot be cancelled.

Mail or e-mail deliveries where SFS has failed to fulfil the order accordingly may be cancelled. Consumers have the right to cancel within 14 days of placing an order.

If you notice any issues with your order, please contact SFS Customer Service without delay.
